Crime

Emily prosecutes and defends in all areas of crime. Her practice covers a wide range of cases from offences of dishonesty, drugs, violence and sexual assaults. She is a Grade 2 prosecutor. She has appeared in the Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal, for appeals against sentence and also for appeals against conviction.

Regulatory Crime

Emily has been appointed to the Unified List of Prosecuting Advocates for the Western Circuit. She regularly appears for the prosecution and defence in matters brought by the Department for Work and Pensions, County and Borough Councils and Devon and Cornwall Constabulary.

Inquests

Emily has appeared in Coroners' inquests.

Personal Injury and Civil Claims

Emily appears for both Claimants and Defendants in a variety of civil claims, including personal injury.

Notable Cases

George William Edmond v DPP [2006] EWHC Admin 463
Appeal by way of case stated which considered the lawfulness of a second request of a breath specimen.

Emily is currently instructed as a Junior in two murder cases, one for the Defence and the other for the Prosecution. She has advised the Prosecution in respect of Judicial Review and is often instructed to undertake complex prosecutions in the Magistrates' Court.

Personal

Emily lives in the South Hams with her boyfriend and three chickens and enjoys sailing, cooking and reading.
