Crime

Gareth's principal area of practice is crime in which he prosecutes and defends in equal measure. He is a Grade 3 prosecutor. He deals with all types of cases in the Crown Court.

Gareth also frequently defends in Courts Martial drawing on his experience of service life.

Another aspect of Gareth's criminal practice is representing companies such as South West Water and Balfour Beatty Ltd when they are prosecuted, both in respect of pollution incidents and Road and Streetworks offences. He also prosecutes on behalf of County and District Councils

At the other end of the criminal justice system Gareth frequently represents life-sentence prisoners at Parole Board hearings.

Administrative Law

Firearms appeals; advice on legal professional privilege; inquests and employment tribunals are all areas that Gareth has recently worked in.

Family Law

Gareth has been steadily developing a family law practice over the past 2 years, appearing primarily in private law cases.

Personal

Gareth spent over 16 years as a Royal Marine Commando before an injury ended his career. After leaving the Corps he attended Exeter university where he obtained his law degree. His pupillage in Taunton was followed by a move to Exeter where he has since been based. He lives in the Devon countryside with his wife and children where he pursues his interests of shooting; training his gundogs and fishing with a little bit of golf thrown in, (he is a life member of The Devon Golf Captains)
