Notable Cases

Re B (a child) [2012] EWCA Civ 1742
The court’s use of its case management powers in controlling evidence.

Re N (a child) [2012] EWCA Civ 1141
Successful appeal against decision of a judge not to permit an assessment of a father in care proceedings because of the likely delay.

Re M (unreported)
Representing the child through her guardian in public law proceedings where that child was under section. The court had to hear evidence from a number of psychiatrists and mental health professionals. At the start of the hearing the guardian’s analysis of the case was contrary to that of the Local Authority and the parents but ultimately was shown to be the correct approach.

Re X (unreported)
Representing the father in private law proceedings where the mother alleged witnessing sexual abuse of the children by their father. Carla successfully defended the allegations in a fact finding hearing over 5 days and later obtained a change of residence for all 3 children to their father’s care.
