Whilst Herc was called to the Bar in 2005 he commenced his pupillage at Colleton Chambers in 2015 having worked at commercial law firms in the intervening period. Having completed his pupillage Herc has a broader practice across Crime, Family and Civil practice areas.
Herc undertakes both criminal prosecution and defence work. He is a Grade 1 prosecutor.
In the Magistrates’, Youth Court and Crown Court Herc has dealt with:
- Violence offences, particularly Domestic Violence matters
- Dishonesty offences, including theft, handling stolen goods, insurance fraud and burglary
- Public order offences, including possession of shotgun
- Driving offences, particularly drink driving prosecutions
- Applications brought by National Probation Service
Herc has also dealt with Civil applications pertaining to criminal proceedings, including Sexual Risk Orders (SRO), Sexual Harm Prevention Orders and Football Banning Orders. Herc attended the appeal hearing of a SRO on behalf of the police.
Herc’s experience includes representing children in criminal matters.

Herc has dealt with applications for:
- Child Arrangements Orders
- Specific Issues and Prohibited Steps Orders
- Permission to remove from the jurisdiction
- Part 25 orders
- Parental Responsibility
Herc has acted for parents, local authorities and guardians in care proceedings, attending advocates’ meetings, First Hearing & Dispute Resolution Appointments, case management / directions hearings, and final hearings.
Herc has provided advice on appeal and/or discharge of Care Orders.
Herc undertakes Fast-track trials, Small Claims trials, mediation representation (also see ADR below) and advisory work.
He worked in the construction team of an eminent local firm of solicitors. This involved day-to-day conduct of a high value multi-party professional negligence dispute involving a new-build hospital in London’s Technology and Construction Court. His experience includes pre-action dealings.
