Family

All areas of private and public law family work, particularly advising and representing parents and relatives in children proceedings. Highly experienced in financial work, including ancillary relief, inheritance and property disputes (especially TOLATA proceedings). Highly experienced also in Family Law Act matters (molestation/occupation Orders).

Civil

Has a wide experience in all manner of Civil work, particularly road traffic, police work, neighbour disputes, housing, commercial landlord and tenant, debt recovery, bankruptcy and insolvency and boundary disputes. Happy to undertake all drafting of documents in a case from Court pleadings to witness statements and Skeleton Arguments.

Other

Has a growing interest and practice in professional negligence matters, particularly Solicitors and Barristers professional negligence claims.

Personal

Married with two children. Enjoys road and cross country running. Chorister. Public speaking and lecturing on family law. Politics and current events: has appeared many times on both radio and television to debate issues affecting family and social policy.

Notable Cases

Appeared at first instance as Counsel for the Guardian in the recent care case of Devon county Council v B (forthcoming) where the need for hard evidence as opposed to judicial suspicion was emphasised before making findings of child abuse against parents.

Appeared for the father in the Court of Appeal in the recent removal from the jurisdiction case of Jewell v Jewell and successfully argued that the trial Judge was correct in his departure from authority, Payne v Payne onwards in allowing the father to take the children abroad.

Appeared for Grandparents in the case of Devon county council and O where the first Special Guardianship Orders in the County were made
