Crime
Since Nigel transferred to the bar he has established a steady Crown Court practice. As his practice has developed, he has been instructed in more serious trials such as rape, armed robbery, and drug trafficking. Given his background as a solicitor in private practice, Nigel mainly defends with about a third of his caseload seeing him appear for the prosecution.
Regulatory Crime
Nigel has prosecuted and defended a wide range of cases involving regulatory crime, including those brought by Trading Standards, local Councils and DWP.
Anti-Social behaviour
Nigel has considerable experience in dealing with applications relating to Anti-Social Behaviour. His practice tends to be focused on seeking to resist the making of an ASBO, or at least to limit the prohibitions imposed, but he has also been involved in applications for Closure Orders made under the Anti-Social Behaviour legislation.
Inquests
Nigel has appeared in Coroners' inquests.
Personal
Nigel is originally from Devon and is married with three young children. He enjoys most sports and regularly cycles, swims, kayaks and plays football and tennis.
