Colleton Chambers’ Pupils are on their Feet!

Colleton Chambers has two pupils who have completed their ‘first six’. They have spent six months assisting other barristers in chambers with research and preparation of cases and shadowing them in court. They have also undertaken further training with the Bar Council and Crown Prosecution Service so that from 1 April 2019 they can present their own cases in court and provide clients with advice.

Thomas Faulkner (pictured above left) graduated from Plymouth University, where he studied Law, then completed his Bar Professional Training Course at Cardiff University in 2018 with a scholarship from the Inner Temple. He has won every mooting or advocacy competition that he has ever entered and will be putting those skills to use practising in Crime, Family and Civil roles across the South West.

Rhys Jenkins (pictured above right) completed his LLM in 2016 attaining a distinction and the second highest mark in his year at Cardiff University, and went on to gain a ‘Very Competent’ in the BPTC. He subsequently worked as a solicitor’s agent gaining experience across housing, small claims, stage three hearings and return of goods across Bristol and the south west. Rhys is looking forward to broadening his practice in civil, family and crime across the Western circuit.

Both pupils will gain experience presenting cases in the Magistrate’s Court Sessions Lists on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service.

Gareth Latchem (Family & Civil Clerk), Nikkie Browning (Criminal Clerk) and Josh Warren (Employment Clerk) will be clerking the pupils through this second part of their pupillage in the usual way. The clerks can be contacted on 01392 274898.
